Police in the Northern Region have created a new anti-crime unit. This unit is called Red Maria.
Its main job is to fight crime more effectively. This includes areas in and around Tamale.
The Northern Regional Commander, DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, announced the launch of the taskforce.
This action comes after growing worries about crime in the region.
The police aim to make communities safer through this new initiative.
