The Northern Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has started a new security team. This team is named 'Red Maria'. It aims to increase efforts against crime in the region.
This new taskforce will focus its work in Tamale. It will also cover areas around the city. The goal is to make these places safer for everyone.
The announcement was made by the Northern Regional Commander DCOP Wisdom Lavoe. He said the decision follows growing concerns about crime.
