Police in the Northern Region have started a new group to fight crime. This group is called the Red Maria taskforce.
The taskforce will focus on stopping criminal activities in Tamale and other towns in the region.
DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, the Northern Regional Commander, announced the launch of the unit.
This move comes as people in the region have been worried about rising crime.
The Ghana Police Service aims to improve public safety with this new initiative.
