Police in Ghana's Northern Region have started a new group to fight crime. This team is named Red Maria.
The Red Maria taskforce will focus on stopping criminal acts. This includes areas in and around Tamale.
The announcement was made by DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, the Northern Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service. He stated the team is needed because people are concerned about rising crime.
The taskforce aims to make the region safer for everyone.
