The Ghana Police Service conducted an intelligence led operation in Kasoa which resulted in the death of a man described as a notorious armed robbery suspect. According to an official police statement the tactical team engaged the suspect after receiving information about his involvement in organized crime. The suspect reportedly resisted arrest and opened fire on the officers leading to a fatal exchange of gunfire.

This specific stretch of road has seen a recent increase in reported carjackings and violent thefts. Police officials confirmed that one locally manufactured pistol and several rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the scene of the shootout. A spokesperson for the Ghana Police Service stated that the suspect had been on the wanted list for several months in connection with at least four separate highway robberies.
