The Ghana Police Service apprehended two male suspects on January 21 2024 during a proactive security operation in Tamale. During the physical inspection of the vehicle and passengers the police discovered two locally manufactured pistols concealed among personal belongings. The Ghana News Agency reported that officers also retrieved a quantity of ammunition during the search. The identities of the suspects have not been officially released by the police as investigations into the origin and intended use of the weapons continue.
The Northern Regional Police Command stated that the suspects were taken into custody immediately following the discovery of the firearms.
