The Jasikan District Police have arrested a 23 year old man, Innocent Owusu, in connection with the killing of his 59 year old father, Peter Owusu, at Likpe Abrani in the Oti Region. The incident is reported to have occurred at the family’s residence on December 30, 2025.

In a press release issued by the Oti Regional Police Command, police said the suspect fled the scene after the alleged act. Intelligence led operations were subsequently launched to locate him. According to the police, the suspect was arrested at a hideout in a forest area at Abrani.

Police confirmed that both the decapitated body of the deceased and the severed head were recovered during investigations. The remains have been deposited at the Hohoe Government Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.

The suspect is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. Authorities say no motive has been officially established at this stage, and inquiries are continuing to determine the circumstances that led to the killing.

In the same release, the Oti Regional Police Command commended residents of Likpe Abrani for their cooperation, noting that information from the community played a role in locating and arresting the suspect. Police officials emphasised the importance of community support in addressing serious crimes.

Deputy Superintendent of Police John Nchor, the Regional Public Affairs Officer, conveyed the condolences of the Police Administration to the family of the deceased. Police say the suspect will be processed in accordance with the law as investigations progress. As with all criminal matters, the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
