The Board of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has issued a directive for the immediate revocation of appointments for 17 staff members, citing a failure to adhere to established recruitment procedures. The order was specifically given to Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, following concerns raised regarding the legitimacy of these hirings.
The decision was reached during a recent board retreat held in Ada, where members conducted a comprehensive review of administrative and governance protocols within the Authority. Following their assessment, the board concluded that the appointments in question did not comply with the necessary public sector processes and approvals required for such hirings.
Mr. Ankrah has been given a firm deadline of February 6 to implement the revocations and to regularise the staffing situation at the NSA. The board has reportedly emphasised its commitment to strict adherence to public sector recruitment regulations moving forward, aiming to prevent similar irregularities in the future.
As of now, there has been no public statement from the Director General or any of the affected staff members regarding the board's directive. The issue has reportedly created internal tension within the Authority as officials await further actions and responses from the board and the Director General.
