The Northern Regional Police Command has stated it will continue to ensure safety. This follows concerns from the public about security after a special police taskforce left the region.

The taskforce was widely known as "Black Maria." The Inspector General of Police led this special unit.

Northern Regional Police Commander DCOP Wisdom Osom Kwakye addressed these concerns. He spoke at a press conference held in Tamale.

DCOP Kwakye reiterated the command’s dedication to maintaining law and order. He assured citizens that their safety remains a top priority for the police force.

The withdrawal of the "Black Maria" unit had raised questions among some residents. They worried about potential gaps in regional security measures.

The police will implement necessary strategies. These will ensure effective policing and crime prevention across the Northern Region.
