The Northern Regional Police Command has told the public they will keep the region safe. This assurance follows the removal of a special police unit called "Black Maria."

This special taskforce was working under the Inspector General of Police. Its withdrawal has caused some people to worry about security in the area.

Northern Regional Police Commander DCOP Wisdom spoke at a press conference. He said the police are still committed to their duty.

The commander confirmed that efforts to keep Tamale and surrounding areas secure will continue. He urged residents to remain calm and continue with their daily activities.

Details about the exact reasons for the withdrawal of the "Black Maria" unit were not provided. The police did not state if another unit will replace them.
