Members of the Nima Divisional Police Command intercepted a commercial vehicle containing a cache of illegal firearms during a routine enforcement operation in Accra. A report from GhanaWeb indicates that officers discovered two unlicensed shotguns hidden within the vehicle during a search conducted on the transport route.

Police officials also recovered several rounds of ammunition alongside the firearms. While the specific destination of the weapons remains under investigation the Ghana Police Service has taken the driver of the vehicle into custody for further questioning regarding the origin of the items.

A preliminary assessment by the Nima Divisional Police suggests the weapons were being transported without the necessary legal permits or documentation. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the driver or any potential accomplices involved in the transit of the illegal hardware.

The Ghana Police Service continues to investigate the matter to determine if the seized weapons are linked to any organized criminal networks in the capital. Officers are currently tracking the suspected source of the firearms as part of a broader effort to reduce the proliferation of illegal arms in the Greater Accra Region.
