The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested ten people suspected of illegal mining. The arrests happened during an operation at Kpali, a town near Gbinyiri in the Savannah Region.

NAIMOS worked with soldiers from the Northern Command of the Ghana Army and officers from the Ghana Police Service. This team conducted the anti-illegal mining operation.

Two excavators were seized by the team. Three excavator monitors and other mining equipment were also taken away.

The operation targeted illegal mining activities in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District. This area has seen increased efforts to stop illegal mining.

Authorities stated that the seized equipment will be used as evidence. Further investigations are underway to identify all individuals involved in the illegal operations.

The government continues its efforts to combat illegal mining across the country. These operations aim to protect natural resources and uphold environmental laws.
