The Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency (MoFFA) has warned operators of mortuary facilities in the Volta Region. They must make their operations legal or face punishment.
Deputy Registrar Dr Philip Sarpong stated that the agency will enforce the law. This applies to facilities that do not follow the rules.
MoFFA is committed to ensuring all mortuary services meet required standards. This protects public health and dignity.
The agency plans to conduct inspections across the region. Non-compliant facilities will be identified and sanctioned.
Sanctions could include fines or temporary closure. This depends on the severity of the non-compliance.
Dr Sarpong urged all operators to cooperate with MoFFA. He stressed the importance of adhering to regulations for public safety.
The agency aims to professionalise the mortuary and funeral services sector. This ensures better service delivery for all Ghanaians.
MoFFA will provide information on how to regularise operations. This will help facility owners comply with the law.
