Minister Not Involved in Security Recruitment Says Official

The Interior Minister does not decide who gets recruited into Ghana’s security services. This is according to Richard Kumadoe.

He explained that the leadership within each security agency is responsible for hiring new personnel.

This includes institutions such as the Ghana Police Service. The Ghana Immigration Service also handles its own recruitment.

Furthermore, the Ghana National Fire Service makes its own hiring choices. The Ghana Prisons Service follows the same procedure.

Kumadoe stated that the structure of Ghana’s security sector places recruitment authority in the hands of these agency leaders. This clarifies the roles and responsibilities within the sector.
