Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has provided reasons for the withdrawal of the Special Operations Taskforce from Tamale. This taskforce is commonly known as the "Black Maria." The decision led to protests by some youth in Tamale.
Protesters asked for the taskforce to be returned to the city. They stated the taskforce played a role in addressing the illegal drug problem in the area. The Ghana Police Service is responding to public concerns.
