The Ghana Police Service has announced a major reshuffle within its senior command structure, seeing several high-ranking officers reassigned to new roles across the organisation. These changes, approved by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, took immediate effect, according to an official statement from the Police Administration.
The extensive reshuffle impacts multiple Directors General, Deputy Commissioners of Police, and Regional Commanders. The IGP stated that these adjustments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership, improve operational efficiency, and enhance service delivery in policing nationwide.
Key movements at the Police Headquarters include Commissioner of Police (COP) Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba, who was reassigned from Director General/Technology to Director General/National Administration and Professional Development. COP Iddi Lansah Seidu moved from Director General/Welfare to Director General/Technology, while COP Dr. Vance Baba Gariba shifted from Director General/Operations to Director General/Research and Planning. COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe was also moved from Director General/Police Professional Standards Bureau to Director General/Operations.
Several Deputy Commissioners were also repositioned. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Darko Offei Lomotey was transferred from Director General/Research and Planning to Director General/Police Professional Standards Bureau, and DCOP Eric Ken Winful was reassigned from Director General/NAPD to Director General/Welfare.
The reshuffle extends beyond the headquarters, impacting regional commands. DCOP Charles K. Adu has been appointed Regional Commander of the Eastern Sector, DCOP George B. Ohene Boadi is now the Regional Commander for the Central Region, and DCOP George Ankomah moved from Central MTTD/Ashanti Region to become Regional Commander for the Eastern North Region. Additionally, DCOP Alex Kodjo Wowolo, formerly Director of ICT at National Headquarters, has been placed in charge of the Central MTTD/Ashanti Region.
