The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) is considering forming a Human Rights Watch Committee. This committee would monitor the protection of constitutional and human rights in Ghana.
The GBA President, Mrs Efua Ghartey, shared this plan. She spoke at the opening of the Association’s 2026/2027 Annual Conference in Ada.
The proposed committee would pay special attention to cases involving social media commentators. This comes amid concerns about arrests related to online speech.
Mrs Ghartey stated that the committee's work is important for upholding justice and freedom.
The GBA aims to ensure that all citizens' rights are respected. The establishment of this committee is still under consideration.
