The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of five suspects linked to a series of coordinated armed robbery attacks that occurred at Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region in December 2025.
According to police, the incident took place on December 2, 2025, when the suspects, acting together with other accomplices and armed with weapons, blocked the Goaso–Tepa road before launching simultaneous attacks on several locations within Nkaseim. These included the Nkaseim Police Station, the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, the Kobby Gold Buying Company, and the Asutifi Rural Bank area.
Police say the assailants made away with two AK47 rifles during the attack on the police station. They also stole cash amounts from the targeted businesses, including GH¢14,000 from the cocoa buying company and GH¢12,000 from the gold buying company. An employee of the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company was shot and injured during the operation.
Following what police describe as sustained intelligence gathering and forensic investigations, officers from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit arrested the first suspect, Mutar Kofi, aged 35, a commercial tricycle rider, on January 16, 2026, at a location known as Ata ne Ata near Nkaseim. Police say he admitted his involvement in the robbery during investigations.
Further operations led to the arrest of Mahamadu Sagio, aged 45, at Nkaseim, Shaibu Issah Jallo, also known as Jibo, aged 28, at Chereponi, and Abdul Suleman, aged 40, at Tanga near Karaga in the Northern Region. On January 25, 2026, another suspect, Bukari Sulley, also known as Tailor, aged 25, a trader based at Alaba in Kumasi, was arrested in connection with the same robbery.
Police say investigations are continuing, and efforts have been intensified to arrest three other suspects identified as Dauda, Mohammed Ali, and Hoyeefi. Hoyeefi has been named by investigators as the alleged leader of the gang and is believed to be in possession of the stolen AK47 rifles and other firearms used during the attacks.
