The Berekum Circuit Court has remanded a suspect into police custody in connection with an alleged attack that left two people seriously injured in the Bono Region.

In a press release issued by the Bono Regional Police Command on January 7, 2026, police said the court, presided over by His Honour Osei Kofi Amoaka Esq, ordered that Emmanuel Yeboah be held in custody over offences relating to attempted murder and causing harm.

According to police, the suspect was arrested on January 3, 2026, following a report that two individuals sustained multiple injuries during an attack. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims are the suspect’s brother and his brother’s wife.

Police allege that the attack occurred while the victims were on their way to a disputed cashew farm. Investigators believe the incident was triggered by a long-standing disagreement over ownership of the land.

The police statement said a cutlass, believed to have been used in the attack, was retrieved and is being held as an exhibit. The injured victims are currently on admission at a health facility and are receiving medical treatment.

Police have not provided further details on the condition of the victims or the extent of their injuries. They stressed that investigations are still ongoing and that the allegations against the suspect remain unproven.

Emmanuel Yeboah is expected to reappear before the Berekum Circuit Court on January 12, 2026, for the continuation of proceedings.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated that suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
