Some roads in Accra will be closed for a short time on Friday, March 6, 2026. This is for the 69th Independence Anniversary Celebration. The event will take place at the Jubilee House.

The Ghana Police Service announced these closures. They stated that certain routes will be inaccessible to traffic. This is to ensure the safety and smooth running of the celebration.

Liberation Road will be closed. The section from Opeibea Intersection to the Central Business District will be affected. This is a busy area and will be managed by police.

Independence Avenue will also see closures. Specifically, the area at the Ako Adjei By-pass will be closed. This is another key route in the city.

Jawaharlal Nehru Road is also on the list of affected roads. These measures are standard for national events of this importance.

The police have assured the public that roads will reopen. This will happen once the independence celebration is over. They asked for cooperation from all road users.
