Security forces have arrested 28 foreign nationals and a landlord during an operation in Pakyi in the Ashanti Region. The arrests took place at Pakyi Numbers One and Two in the Amansie West District. These foreign nationals were reportedly living in the area without proper legal documents.
The joint operation was carried out by the Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Police Service. The Amansie West District Assembly also participated in the effort. Their goal was to find and detain foreigners who did not have valid permits to stay.
The operation aimed to ensure all residents in the area were lawfully present. Authorities stated that the detained foreigners and their landlord are now undergoing further processing.
Officials have not yet released the nationalities of the arrested foreign nationals. The landlord is being held for allegedly housing individuals without legal residency.
The Ghana Immigration Service confirmed the arrests were made on Friday. Further investigations are expected to determine the next steps for those detained.
