Police in the Tepa District have arrested two Chinese nationals. The arrests were made in Benso in the Eastern Region.
The two men are suspected of engaging in illegal small-scale mining activities. Authorities apprehended them while they were in possession of mining equipment.
The Ghana Police Service is investigating the matter further.
Illegal mining, often referred to as galamsey, continues to be a concern in various parts of the country. It can harm the environment and local water sources.
