Customs officials at Tema Port have intercepted a large shipment of machines. The seizure happened on March 3rd after a long investigation.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted the operation. They had been gathering information for several months.

A total of 1,070 machines were found. These machines are known as Chanfang machines.

Officials say this was not a simple case of individual smugglers. They believe an organized criminal group was behind this attempt.

The EPA shared that the operation was a result of careful intelligence work.

Further details about the syndicate will be released as the investigation continues.

This seizure highlights ongoing efforts to combat illegal trade through Ghana's ports.

The EPA continues its work to protect the environment and stop illicit activities.
