The Western Regional Police Command apprehended two individuals in Takoradi on Wednesday night following an intelligence led operation into a suspected human trafficking syndicate. According to a Citi Newsroom report the tactical unit conducted the raid after receiving credible information regarding the movement of minors across regional borders. Officials confirmed the rescue of four children during the exercise.

Police investigators stated the suspects are currently in custody assisting with ongoing inquiries into the origins and destinations of the rescued minors. A report by Graphic Online indicates that the individuals are expected to face charges related to child trafficking and exploitation once preliminary investigations are concluded. The identities of the suspects have been withheld by authorities pending formal charges in court.

The Ghana Police Service informed local media that the rescued children were moved to a safe house for medical evaluation and psychological support. According to a Daily Guide report the social welfare department has been notified to assist in reuniting the victims with their legal guardians or families. Officers are also investigating whether the group has links to a larger network operating within the Western Region.

Security experts cited in various news reports emphasized that Takoradi serves as a critical transit point for organized crime due to its proximity to borders and high industrial activity. The regional police public relations officer stated via a press briefing that the service remains committed to dismantling criminal networks and protecting vulnerable populations. No further arrests have been made as of Thursday morning.
