A court in Manso Nkwanta has ordered that six people be held while investigations continue. These individuals are accused of illegal mining.

The group includes five men from Nigeria and one man from Ghana. They were reportedly found carrying out mining activities without permission.

The alleged illegal mining took place in an area called Basiakobre. This location is situated in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.

The court issued a remand order. This means the suspects will stay in custody for a period as the legal process unfolds.

The charges relate specifically to illegal mining operations. This practice is often referred to as galamsey and is a significant concern.
