Police officers in Odumase Krobo have turned down a GH¢200,000 bribe. This happened after they caught people with suspected fake money.
The police found 105 bundles of what looks like counterfeit US dollar notes. These were hidden inside a metal trunk.
The discovery and subsequent bribe refusal took place at Odumase Laasi. This area is within the Odumase Krobo district.
According to a Ghana Police Service statement, the officers acted professionally. They did not accept the money offered by the suspects.
The fake currency is now in police custody. Investigations are continuing into the origin and intended use of the counterfeit notes.
