The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat, known as NAIMOS, has conducted a raid on illegal mining sites. The operation targeted areas along the Ankobra River in the Western Region.
During the raid, NAIMOS officials destroyed 86 Chanfang machines. These machines were being used for illegal mining activities that threaten the river.
The operation occurred within the Ablebo General Area of the Ellembelle District. This area has been identified as a hotspot for illegal mining.
Three people were arrested at the scene. They are suspected of being involved in illegal mining operations.
The arrested individuals were handed over to the Police in Axim. Further investigations into their activities are expected.
NAIMOS continues its efforts to combat illegal mining. These operations aim to protect natural resources and uphold environmental laws.
