The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat has arrested 40 people. This happened during a crackdown on illegal mining activities.
The operations took place in six regions known for illegal mining. These regions are Western North, Western, Ashanti, Ahafo, Savannah, and Eastern.
These actions were carried out between Monday, July 27, and Sunday, August 2, 2026. NAIMOS focused its efforts in areas heavily affected by illegal mining.
During the crackdown, various mining equipment was also seized by the operation team. The exact value and type of equipment are still being assessed.
