Fifteen excavators were reportedly taken from the Enchi District Assembly yard by armed military personnel. The equipment had been seized from illegal mining in the Tano Anwia Forest Reserve.

The incident happened on Friday. A group of men, believed to be military, arrived at the Assembly grounds.

They came with 15 low-bed trucks. The armed men surrounded the excavators.

They told the District Chief Executive to release the equipment. This occurred despite a court order that was in place to protect the seized excavators.

The excavators were originally confiscated as part of efforts to stop illegal mining activities.

The Tano Anwia Forest Reserve has been a target for illegal mining operations.
