Ghana Revenue Authority Customs officers have seized 560 diesel engines at Tema Port.

The engines were found at the Golden Jubilee Terminal during a routine cargo inspection.

Authorities suspect the equipment was meant for illegal small-scale mining operations. This is commonly referred to as galamsey.

The Preventive Unit of the Customs Division made the interception.

Investigations into the suspected illegal purpose of the engines are ongoing.

The seizure highlights efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the country.
