Officers from the Ghana Revenue Authority Customs Division seized 560 diesel engines at Tema Port. The engines were found at the Golden Jubilee Terminal.
Authorities suspect these CHANG FANG engines were intended for illegal small-scale mining, known as galamsey.
The seizure happened during a routine check of cargo arriving at the port.
This action by Customs aims to prevent illegal activities and protect the environment.
The Ghana Revenue Authority is working to stop the use of equipment for illegal mining operations.
Further investigations will determine the final destination and intended use of the seized engines.
