Customs officers have seized 560 diesel engines at Tema Port. This happened during a routine cargo inspection.
The engines were found at the Golden Jubilee Terminal.
Officials from the Ghana Revenue Authority Customs Division made the seizure.
Authorities believe the engines were meant for illegal small-scale mining. This activity is commonly known as galamsey.
The engines are identified as CHANG FANG diesel engines.
Further investigations are underway by customs officials.
