Officers from the Ghana Revenue Authority Customs Division have seized 560 diesel engines at Tema Port.
The engines, identified as CHANG FANG brand, were found at the Golden Jubilee Terminal.
Authorities suspect these engines are meant for illegal mining activities, often referred to as galamsey.
The discovery was made during a routine check of cargo.
Further investigations are underway to confirm the intended use of the engines.
This action by GRA Customs aims to prevent the use of such equipment in environmentally damaging illegal mining.
The total value of the seized items is not immediately available.
