The Forestry Commission has arrested 12 people suspected of illegal mining. The arrests happened in the South Formangso Forest Reserve in the Ashanti Region. This operation took place on September 13, 2026.

During the operation, officials also seized three excavators. These machines are often used for illegal mining activities.

Additionally, six water-pumping machines were taken by the commission. These are used to remove water from mining sites.

Six Chanfang machines found at the illegal mining site were destroyed. These machines are used in the mining process.

The Forestry Commission is working to stop illegal mining activities that harm the environment. The South Formangso Forest Reserve is an area targeted by these illegal operations.

The arrested individuals will face legal proceedings. The confiscated equipment will be used as evidence.
