Five people have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service. They are suspected of trafficking firearms.

The arrests were made during an operation conducted by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police. This operation happened between June and July 2026.

During the operation, police recovered several weapons. These included eight AK-47 assault rifles.

One submachine gun was also found. Two foreign-manufactured pistols were seized as well.

The police are continuing their investigation into the matter. The full scope of the trafficking ring is still being determined.
