The Chief Executive of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, Julius Neequaye Kotey, has announced a plan to stop illegal activities around DVLA offices. He said the authority will take action against middlemen often called 'Goro Boys'.
These individuals help people with driving license applications and vehicle registrations for a fee. They operate within and around DVLA premises.
The announcement comes after the DVLA discovered a criminal network. This network was involved in making and distributing fake vehicle number plates.
Mr. Kotey stated that the DVLA is committed to ensuring that all its services are handled legally. He stressed that the authority will not tolerate any fraudulent activities.
The crackdown aims to protect the public from falling victim to scams. It also seeks to maintain the integrity of the licensing and vehicle registration process.
The DVLA is working to identify and arrest individuals involved in these illegal operations. Further details on the enforcement actions are expected soon.
