Customs officers have intercepted 560 diesel engines at the Tema Port. The Preventive Unit of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority made the seizure.

The engines were found at the Golden Jubilee Terminal. This happened on March 24, 2026.

Authorities suspect the engines are meant for illegal small-scale mining operations. This activity is commonly called galamsey.

The investigation into the intended use of the engines is ongoing. Officials are working to determine the full extent of the operation.

This action is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal mining and its associated environmental damage.
