Officials from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority have seized 560 diesel engines. The engines were found at the Golden Jubilee Terminal in Tema Port.

The seizure occurred on March 23, 2026. Authorities suspect the engines are meant for illegal mining activities.

These engines are often used in the process of illegal small-scale mining, commonly referred to as galamsey.

The investigation into the intended use of these engines is ongoing.

This action by Customs is part of efforts to curb illegal mining operations in the country.

Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
