Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested a Chinese national in connection with illegal mining.
The arrest took place at Manso Amenfi. Several other individuals were also apprehended during the operation.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed the development. They reported that mining equipment and vehicles were seized from the site.
Illegal mining, often called galamsey, continues to be a challenge in the region.
Authorities are working to stop these activities which can harm the environment.
The arrested individuals will face legal proceedings.
