The Abusuapanyin of the Atronie Traditional Council, Omono Asamoah, has reported threats from landguards. These individuals are allegedly hired by illegal miners.
Mr. Asamoah said the landguards threatened to cut off the heads of community members. This happened when chiefs and residents planned to visit a galamsey site.
The incident occurred in the Bono Region. The traditional council leader spoke about the threats during an interview.
He stated that the chiefs and residents felt uncomfortable with the situation. The threats were made by enforcers of illegal mining operations.
The Ghana Police Service has been informed of the alleged threats.
