The Mpohor-Fiase District Assembly has arrested 26 people for illegal mining. This action is part of efforts to stop galamsey in the district.

The arrests were made during a coordinated security operation. This operation targeted around 10 suspected illegal mining sites.

Personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and Ghana National Fire Service participated in the raid.

The operation was based on intelligence gathered about the illegal mining activities.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to combat illegal mining across the district.

The arrested individuals are expected to face legal proceedings.
