A woman has reportedly been arrested and released on police enquiry bail over the alleged assault of a 16-year-old boy at Appolonia in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
Her husband is said to be untraceable.
According to MyJoyOnline, the boy's family reported the matter to the Katamanso Police Station. The woman was reportedly detained on Friday, 30 October 2026, and released the following day. The circumstances of her release and the whereabouts of her husband have not been independently confirmed.
The boy's father said the incident happened on Thursday, 29 October 2026, after his son visited a female classmate, also aged 16, at her home to deliver a birthday present. He alleged that the girl's mother arrived, slapped and beat the boy, and that her husband later punched him, beat him with a belt and a stick and threatened to kill him.
The father said his son sustained bruises and other injuries, has received preliminary hospital treatment and remains traumatised. The family has called for a thorough police investigation and for intervention by child protection agencies.
MyJoyOnline reported that the woman has acknowledged beating the teenager, expressed regret and offered to pay for his treatment, but disputed parts of his account, including the claim that her husband threatened him with a knife and that the teenagers were locked in a room.
GhanaCrimes is not naming the adults involved, to avoid identifying the children. Police investigations are ongoing. No charges have been reported, and both adults remain presumed innocent.
