The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has provided details of substantial asset recoveries and seizures made in connection with its anti-corruption mandate during the period from July to December 2025. The disclosures form part of the OSP’s half-yearly report and illustrate the scale of resources being traced and restrained under ongoing investigations.
According to the report, the OSP recovered cash totalling the equivalent of US$2,000,000 for the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) and GH¢8,518,233 linked to an investigation into the diversion of petroleum products. There was also an immediate seizure of GH¢951,995.56 during the arrest phase of a high-profile case now before the High Court in Accra.
The report lists a wide range of seized assets associated with criminal proceedings in The Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and Nine Others (CR/0603/2025), a case being handled by the Criminal High Court. They include four fuel stations located in Dansoman, Abeka Lapaz, Opeikuma and Millennium City near Kasoa, as well as 23 fuel tanker trucks.
A large real estate portfolio has also been placed under OSP management pending court outcomes. Among these assets are a two-storey residential building in East Legon valued at GH¢12.7 million, a two-storey building in Adjiringanor valued at GH¢10 million, and a six-unit residential block in Agbogba also valued at GH¢10 million. High-end apartments in developments such as The Signature, The Lennox, The Bantree and The Address have been among the properties seized, with individual units valued between approximately GH¢1.4 million and GH¢3.5 million. Strategic land holdings in Tamale, Haatso, Adenta and Kumasi, collectively worth tens of millions of cedis, have also been restrained.
In a separate phase of asset tracing linked to the MIIF probe, the OSP reported confiscating a fleet of luxury vehicles valued at around GH¢18.6 million. This fleet includes high-end models such as a Mercedes-Benz Brabus 800 S/W, a Rolls-Royce Mansory Phantom, a Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680, as well as various Toyota Land Cruisers and Lexus vehicles.
The OSP has emphasised that these seizures and financial recoveries remain subject to ongoing legal proceedings, including trials and forfeiture applications before competent courts. Prosecutors allege that the assets are connected to proceeds of corruption and economic crimes under investigation.
