Three persons, including the matron of Wovenu Senior High School in Tadzewu and a police officer, are currently in police custody following allegations of diverting food items intended for students of the school.

The suspects were apprehended around 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, by the Assembly Member for the area, Meli Atipoe, alongside concerned community members.

Sources indicate that the individuals were intercepted while transporting several bags of rice, cartons of tinned tomatoes, tinned fish, and gallons of cooking oil. These items are believed to be part of the school’s food stock.

The alleged diverted items were reportedly being conveyed in a vehicle driven by a police sergeant stationed in Ho. Unverified claims suggest the officer has a close association with the matron's sister, described as her boyfriend.

Following their arrest, the suspects were initially taken to the Tadzewu Police Station before being transferred to the Dzodze Police Station for further investigation.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Reverend Martin Amenaki, has confirmed knowledge of the incident and assured the public of a comprehensive investigation. He emphasized that anyone found culpable in the alleged diversion of school feeding supplies will face the full force of the law.

As of now, no formal charges have been announced. Police authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the origin of the items, the method of their removal from the school’s stores, and to determine if other individuals are involved in the alleged scheme.
