The Ghana Police Service has commenced a forensic investigation into the death of an unidentified man whose body was discovered at a quarry site in Gomoa Dominase within the Central Region. According to reports from Adom Online the deceased was found on Monday evening inside an abandoned well on the premises. Local residents discovered the body and immediately notified the authorities at the Gomoa Dominase Police Station.
Reporting from Graphic Online suggests that the victim appeared to be in his late thirties or early forties. The same outlet stated that the body showed signs of physical trauma which led investigators to treat the case as a suspected homicide. Police officers arrived at the scene to retrieve the body with the assistance of the Ghana National Fire Service and local volunteers according to accounts provided to Citi Newsroom.
The body has since been deposited at a local morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death as confirmed by GhanaWeb. Local authorities told UTV Ghana that the site of the abandonment has been cordoned off for further processing by crime scene experts.
Investigators are currently appealing to the public for information regarding anyone seen near the quarry site over the weekend. While the incident is being treated as a suspected murder the Gomoa Dominase Police Command has cautioned against speculation while the formal inquiry continues.
