Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has asked for a parliamentary investigation into drug trafficking fears.
He wants lawmakers to form a committee to look into how illegal drugs might be entering Ghana.
This committee should have the power to call witnesses and examine shipping documents.
Dr Bawumia stated that the investigation is needed to understand how narcotics shipments could be passing through the country.
He called for a bipartisan approach, meaning members from different political parties would work together.
The former Vice President believes this probe is important for national security.
Concerns have been raised about Ghana's borders being used for drug transit.
Parliamentary action is seen as a way to address these serious issues transparently.
