Authorities have arrested a woman accused of exploiting the immigration status of six Guatemalan nationals for economic advantage. The individuals were reportedly nearing completion of a $10,000 roofing project when the woman allegedly contacted immigration officials.
The woman is said to have reported the workers to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in an apparent attempt to avoid payment for their services. The arrest follows an investigation into allegations of exploitation and potential fraud.
