Police in Odumase-Krobo have arrested three men for alleged counterfeiting of US dollars. The suspects were apprehended after a police operation at a hideout in Laasi a community within the Eastern Region.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ebenezer Natsu aged 20 George Attor aged 48 and Bishop Robert Olertey aged 54. Authorities apprehended them following an intelligence-led raid by the Ghana Police Service.
During the raid at the suspects hideout police seized a quantity of counterfeit US dollars. The exact amount of fake currency found is part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigators are working to determine how widespread the operation was and if any of the fake currency had already been circulated.
The arrested men are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. They are expected to be presented before the court soon.
This action by the Ghana Police Service is part of efforts to combat financial crimes and protect the integrity of currency within Ghana.
