Police in Odumase Krobo have taken possession of a large amount of suspected counterfeit US dollars. The discovery was made following an operation by the Ghana Police Service.
Officers found 105 bundles of what appear to be fake US dollar notes. These were hidden inside a metal trunk.
The incident took place at Odumase Laasi. This is within the Odumase Krobo district.
Suspects involved in the case attempted to bribe the police officers. They offered GH¢200 000 in cash.
The Ghana Police Service stated that the bribe was firmly rejected. Officers upheld their duty to uphold the law.
The suspected fake currency along with the metal trunk have been seized as evidence.
Investigations are continuing into the source of the counterfeit money and the individuals involved.
