Police in Odumase-Krobo have arrested three individuals carrying more than one million US dollars in fake money. The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The arrests came after police received tips about the counterfeit currency operation. Detective Corporal Williams Asante led the Odumase-Krobo Police Command in the operation.
During the arrest, the suspects tried to offer the police officers GH¢200,000 to let them go. The police rejected the bribe.
The Eastern Regional Police command confirmed the incident. They stated that the officers involved acted professionally and refused the illegal offer.
The investigation is ongoing to uncover the full scope of the counterfeit currency syndicate.
Authorities are working to determine the origin and intended distribution of the fake US dollars.
